Meditation
This was the starting point of our benign beginning, wherein out of our routine stress, we wished to take a break. Meditation was introduced, in different forms and formats. [Mindfulness, Transcendental, Vipassana, Guided, Mantra, Chakra, Kundalini yoga, Zen] Be it in any form, the final results were ultimate. So, we practice and preach meditation to anyone who is interested in, through whichever form he is comfortable with.
Yoga
Though it had to be a part and parcel of our daily routine, we are, in order to keep pace with life, are skipping onto these basics of healthy food and lifestyle.
The basic pranayama techniques are taught. Way to incorporate yoga into our daily life and keep our body fit.
Religious Unification
These days, or we can say since a few thousand years the constant aggression with respect to Faith and their acceptance has been an issue in Indian society. With our organization, we tend to bridge the gap between the Faiths and try to bring them on common platform. We have succeeded quite a lot in this respect, but again it’s a continuous process.
Anti-Female-feticide: Beti Bachao Beti Padao
We have taken this GoI slogan, but we had consistently been promoting a female child. As in Patriarchal system, the boy is supposed to carry on the family’s name. But here, we instill the benefits of having a doting daughter, who loves and cares for the parents all through the life. As is said, “a son is a son, till he gets his wife; a daughter remains a daughter all through her life”.
Many families are benefitted by this efforts. Further, we have facilitated adoption amongst those who already have multitude of daughters to those who don’t have a child.
Anti Dowry
Though dowry started as a goodwill gesture from the bride’s family, it became a nuisance in the recent decades. In order to bring in peace with the system and the way it should be followed, we have started an an anti dowry campaign in which the boy and his family avow to abstain from asking for dowry.
Even Vishal Saxena’s marriage was performed in a very simple ceremony at Shanti Kunj, Haridwar, without any gifts, cash or anything from the girl’s family. She only came in with a bag of her personal clothes.
Health and Hygiene, especially amongst rural females
Health, though now through Ayushman scheme of GoI, has taken wings. The awareness about health and hygiene is missing in rural India. We, through our campaigns cover small rural areas, villages and collectively guide the families about hygiene and all the basics of it.
The basics of personal cleaning, not using “Gutkha”, not spitting or urinating anywhere, how to use a toilet, menstrual hygiene, the taboos associated with basic cleanliness etc. are taught through lectures, demonstration, street plays.
Tree Plantation
The lungs of life. They are not getting their due rights on this land. Although, it is aspired to have at least one third land under forest cover. We, due to human greed, are spreading out far and wide covering all square feet of land under concrete.
In order to cope up with that, we are using a two pronged strategy
One: to let the trees grow and save the existing ones
Two: to plant more and more trees
Every year, the month of August, when its monsoons all over, we have been planting trees. Here, its mandatory for each individual to plant at least 5 trees and take care of them for five years, till they grow up to a full-fledged tree.
Orphanage for young and aged: Vasudhev Kutumbkum since 1998
Orphanages (and old age homes) are a real blot on our society.
It simply means that we as a society have failed to provide safety and comfort to our own family.
In order to help out these deprived people, we try to bring them closer to anything like a family. We try to coordinate between an old age home and an orphanage, so that once a week visit amongst the two can be organized. This had very positive effects onto both. The children are getting a guardianship, while the oldies are amused to see the kids surround them.
This is a unique experiment, but its giving very positive results.
We hope that one day we can have our own old age home cum orphanage within the same campus, for the benefit of both.
Yes, we do try to help them out with food, clothing and medicines also.
Blood Donation
Each drop of blood counts!
In this age and times where everyone is so stressed out that a small tiff often results in a murder.
We, through our team of volunteers participate in any blood donation drive around, and also help out anyone if we receive any SOS for blood requirement.
We think this to be the most humane thing that we can do!
Financial aids to poor patients, students & marriages
The most traumatizing situation arises when any of these financial emergencies comes knocking at our door.
Be it of a patient, who isn’t taken care of because of their financial limitations
or a meritious student, who needs to drop out for providing an extra hand to earn
or a girl who is not getting married because his parents can’t afford to give anything in dowry.
We try to help them out in their respective cases, with whatever we can accumulate and through donations
Saving & Harvesting water
We are fast pacing towards ‘Day Zero’, wherein our cities won’t have water to supply for our basic needs.
The basic reason being over drawing ground water and not replenishing it.
We are trying to make people beware of the impending crisis.
Also, we help them in understanding the need, ways and means to replenish ground water.
Cloth Bank
We tend to dispose our old, out of fashion clothes through whichever means.
But these very clothes, which are rarely torn or tattered, can very willingly be used by those in need.
Our volunteers and their links are a real treasure in this field. We have convinced many families to donate their old and not in use clothes to us. The volunteers collect them once in two/ three months, or by a call. These clothes are inspected for any cuts or strains. These are rectified, washed, ironed and then made ready for donation. These clothes are then forwarded to any of the places where they are actually put to use (and not sold off).
Food Bank
This is the worst kind of wastage our country is indulged in. Though the so called developed nations like US or South Korea are leaders in this wastage, we too are fast catching up.
It is so shameful wherein we call food as “Ann Devta” and anybody feeding us as “Anna Purna”. It takes so much of efforts to produce just a few grains, and only because we can afford it, we are wasting it. This is bad, especially in our country where not everyone is fortunate enough to get two square meals a day.
This is a new item added to our list, and we are still trying to figure out how to stop wastage and provide to the needy.
Anti Grafting, Bribery, Black Money
Corruption is eating our society like termites. Though its so deep routed, its really hard to fight it out. Still we, as a team try to fight it out by not offering bribes for any of our government related jobs. As yet, we are just collecting our group and force the officer to do the work in a dignified manner.
But we still are trying to add some authoritative power to our work.
